Always Yours, Truly Blue
02:41
|
|||
What a funny way to say goodbye
In your old room I'm drinking wine
Singing your old songs like lullabies
Lazy hazy afternoon
Some people want to hide but you're bona fide
You're true blue
Now you're far away but you left a card
Every shred of who you are
You signed the letter saying
"I'm sad to be leaving you
Always yours, truely blue"

Dream Away Lady
03:14
|
|||
Waves on concrete under the fog
I don't think I need much at all
As long as I can feel the sunshine that you bring
As long as I can hear your low voice sing
But it's alright, Yeah it's okay
Look on the brightside, You can make it your day
She greets me sweetly inbetween the sheets
And we walk downtown amidst the fading streets
And in your dreams of me we never leave the bed
And your dreams of me are still inside my head
'Cause there's a road where nobody goes
And it reminds me of home
Dreamaway Lady day

Hey Rufus
03:13
|
|||
A chorus of a dozen dogs
Echo through the valley alone
The silence calms their bones
Hey Rufus
Oh what a wonderful life
What a terrible time
It's sometimes hard to find
A brightside
I think I'm in love with a girl who
I think could love me too If only she knew
But her boyfriends a nice guy
Oh no, think I'm dying

Miss
03:29
|
|||
Wishing fortune on a luckless man
And in his eyes he offers me a hand
The cold light is pouring as she makes her way within
And over the threshold she begins to swim
Won't you please think of me
Before you choose to go to sleep
It's a lover's love that never gets old
Through all of her visions, grief beholds
Looking up at me through sleepy eyes
You never need to ask me how or why
You hold yourself like you don't even care
And you wonder why there isn't anybody there

Shanghaied
03:29
|
|||
I can't believe that they don't have stars in their eyes
Maybe I do, maybe I do, my lady
The hope that they'll change and the limbo that hangs the skies
It could have been, it could have been, my lady
Because everytime I meet a girl and we're both going seperate ways
We're two ships in the night and oh, you're leading me astray
She says that I make her feel pretty without doing anything
And I hope she knows she's the one in all of the songs I sing
I know I love you like I know that the sun will rise
The sun and the moon take turns to look at you
With all the time you have, you've always got some time to lose
Until western skies blind both me eyes and save me

Another Two For Tulsa
04:39
|
|||
Another two for Tusla and
One more for the sea
Through all the days I cast away
I held you close to me
Love is when you fight for someone
That you know is wrong
But even if we break apart
The best has yet to come
I don't ever want this day to end
But the suns around the bend
And I will stay with you my friend
Another two for blue eyes and
One more for the road
All the things he learned could not
Be taught by being told
All around her she had made
A shelter formed from stone
But I was hers and she was mine
When we were all alone

Macumazana I find
And I'll kiss her eyes
Each time she cries
And the tears would stop
She has a dress so white
With wisps of red along the side
She kissed my cheek
And it still burns
I've nowhere to turn
I'm more fade/fate than form
You're never too far from the border
The world still seems so far away
And I'm afraid if I stay
She'll catch up quick
And I'll rue that day
Look for me and see the dawn
Call my name and I'll be gone
You can stop on by, any old time

Misery
02:54
|
|||
So I walk on down the road
See a house and peek inside
Lovers under neon lights
He says "She'll never be mine"
The world stops, an hour drags
Along like it's a day
So I move out the back
After tripping on my way
It's so hard to say goodbye
When we're laying down in bed
'Cause I go to stand and I end up
Kissing you instead
He feels his heartbeat on the forest floor
The poet's paces pause to sore
Will it sell to a poor man? I'm not sure
He's been down this road before
She takes his hand, leads to a land
Where every raindrop tastes of sand
He sees her hunger stare into the souls of the other men
She slips he falls into a life that he has only spent
Every meal is heaven sent
And I don't know if I can pay the rent
There's a man for goodness sake
Got his feet in Sugar Lake
His corn cob pipe in waving wake
When his big bag did turn to shake
She freezes over suddenly
With his ankles trapped inside
Misery did hold her breath
But to me she did confide
Lets soar, get sore, come on baby
Give me some more
Reduced to a grim statistic
And I heard hammering on the floor
And every baby bird
Has got to fly out from the nest
Doesn't know which way he heads
'Cause he knows nowhere is best
And like his wings up into the sky
I got my feet down on the ground
And as he's flying up ahead
I'll be rambling all around
Half the lands on fire man
And the other half is aflood
I got my head up in the clouds
And my boots down in the mud

Fan Tan Alley
04:39
|
|||
I'm walking through Fan Tan Alley one morning
Thinking the rain is some kind of warning to me
That I should go away
The red dusty bricks play tricks on my head and
Old Mr. Wilbury calls from the window to me
"Hey won't you come inside"
The man at the counter patiently sits
Watching the day and drinking lots of tea
And he wants to die
He asks "How are you doing?"
I say "I'm always good"
And he smiles and we talk about Jesus Christ
And sympathy
I say "I must be going but its been fun"
And waving goodbye I strode into the setting sun
Dust close behind
That scene has faded and become worn
Those heavy words from your heart are torn
New skin has grown over your scars
Nothing that you've done so far
Is really who you are
I'm walking through Fan Tan alley that evening
Midnight ink fills the shadows on the streets
Not a sound did stir
The moon and I were nice and high
As stars like sparks flow gentle across the night
Was she just a lover
Did he really love her
Or was theirs just a print that fades in time
As the light sped away
He thought he heard himself say
"One day it won't all seem in vain"
But she will never go
He will carry the stone
No one around to help him ease the load
Looking back now I got older
But the pictures never seem to change
Until one day
That scene had faded and become worn
Those heavy words from your heard are torn
New skin has grown over your scars
All the pain as she sped away
Really made you who you are
